ACER PALM. BI HOO

Acer palmatum ‘Bi Hoo’ is a distinctive Japanese maple valued for its winter interest, with young stems that take on a striking yellow to yelloworange hue, bringing colour to the garden in the colder months. A compact, deciduous small tree with finely lobed green leaves that develop attractive autumn tints, it performs best in Ireland in a sheltered spot with sun or light shade, out of cold, drying winds. Plant in moist but welldrained, fertile, acid to neutral soil; avoid chalky conditions. Ideal as a specimen where its elegant framework and stem colour can be appreciated.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images
