Acer palmatum ‘Shaina’ is a compact, deciduous Japanese maple cultivar known for its stunning foliage and compact size.

Height/Spread: ‘Shaina’ typically grows to a height of around 5-6 feet (150-180 cm) with a similar spread, making it a perfect choice for smaller gardens or containers.

Position: This cultivar thrives in a partially shaded position, although it can tolerate full sun if the soil remains consistently moist. Protect it from strong winds, especially in exposed areas.

Soil: ‘Shaina’ prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral pH range of 5.5-7.0 is suitable. Regularly mulching the base of the plant helps retain moisture.

Flowering Season: While ‘Shaina’ is primarily grown for its foliage, it produces inconspicuous flowers in spring. The main attraction is the vibrant red foliage that emerges in spring, transitioning to bronze-red in summer and crimson in autumn.
