Amelanchier lamarckii

Amelanchier lamarckii is an elegant small tree or large multi-stem shrub prized for clouds of starry white blossom in spring, followed by small dark berries, and vivid orange-red autumn colour. New leaves often open with a bronze tint before turning green for summer. Suited to Irish gardens, it thrives in full sun or light shade in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile, neutral to acid soil; avoid very alkaline conditions. Compact enough for smaller spaces yet with year-round interest, it makes a fine specimen or an attractive addition to mixed planting.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
