Elodea (Egeria) densa, commonly known as Brazilian waterweed or Anacharis, is a submerged aquatic plant that is highly valued for its ability to oxygenate and clarify water in ponds and aquariums. It is a versatile and adaptable plant that can thrive in the Irish climate, offering both aesthetic and functional benefits.

Height/Spread: Elodea densa typically grows to a height of 30-100 cm (12-39 inches) and spreads vigorously. Its long, slender stems form dense mats, creating a lush underwater environment.

Position: This aquatic plant prefers full sun to partial shade. It can be placed in both natural and artificial water bodies, including ponds, lakes, and aquariums. In the Irish climate, it benefits from a position with ample sunlight, as this promotes its growth and overall health.

Soil: As a submerged plant, Elodea densa doesn’t require specific soil conditions. It primarily obtains nutrients from the water in which it is planted.
