Rhododendron Powerplant mix P17

This hand-picked Powerplant mix offers compact rhododendrons for reliable late-spring display in Irish gardens. Expect neat, evergreen foliage and showy trusses of blossom in late spring to early summer, with individual varieties selected for garden performance. Plant in light, dappled shade in a sheltered spot, in acidic (ericaceous), humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained. Avoid lime or chalk. For containers, use ericaceous compost and water with rainwater where possible. Plant shallowly (rhododendrons are shallow-rooted), mulch annually with leaf mould or pine needles, and feed with an ericaceous fertiliser after flowering. Deadhead spent trusses where practical to keep plants tidy and encourage strong growth.
