SORBUS VILMORINII

Sorbus vilmorinii is a graceful, small deciduous rowan valued for its finely divided, fern-like greygreen foliage, flat clusters of creamy white flowers in late spring to early summer, and abundant fruit display. The berries typically open reddishpink and gradually pale to nearwhite as they ripen, while the foliage develops purple and red tones in autumn. Grow in full sun and moist but welldrained, moderately fertile soil for best fruiting and colour; an excellent choice as a specimen for smaller gardens in Ireland.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
