Paeonia in cultivars (V)

Classic, long-lived herbaceous peony cultivars grown for sumptuous late spring to early summer blooms in a wide range of colours and forms. In Ireland they thrive in full sun or light shade on fertile, moist but welldrained soil. Ideal for mixed borders and for cutting; plant shallowly and avoid disturbing established clumps. Taller, large-flowered cultivars may need discreet support; deadhead after flowering and allow the foliage to die back naturally.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
